Expand Educational Access
Expand access to quality education for children and young people in underserved communities in Haiti.
Founded in August 2010, Love and Gratitude serves children and families in the rural community of Corail, Grand'Anse, Jérémie, Haiti, while extending English-language learning to Haitian adults around the world.
What began as a desire to help a small group of children became a continuing mission to create educational opportunities, support families, and empower communities.

Love and Gratitude is a nonprofit organization founded in August 2010 to serve children and families in the rural community of Corail, Grand'Anse, Jérémie, Haiti.
Our mission is to expand educational opportunities for children in Haiti, support students in their academic journeys, and empower families and communities.
Through our English as a Second Language program, Love and Gratitude also provides accessible English-language education to Haitian adults around the world through virtual Zoom classes.
The vision grew from Josmanie Vincent's experiences with children and families in Haiti and from seeing how strongly parents were working to give their children an education.
Before 2010, during family vacations in Haiti, Josmanie regularly looked for ways to engage children in the community through English lessons, talent shows, Vacation Bible School, and concerts.
In 2010, the vision became a deeper calling when Josmanie and her sister, Ruth Weche, traveled to Haiti.
During family vacations in Haiti, Josmanie found ways to keep children active through English lessons, talent shows, Vacation Bible School, and concerts.
Josmanie and her sister Ruth Weche traveled to Haiti. While walking through the neighborhood, Josmanie met two mothers working under the hot sun to earn money to send their children to school.
One mother was breaking rocks to sell so she could pay for her children's education. Another mother washed clothes for other families and used her earnings to send her children to school.
Each family lived in a single-room home with five children and their parents. The same room was used for sleeping, cooking, and other basic needs, yet the families remained determined to educate their children.
After returning to Boston, Josmanie shared the families' stories and photographs with family and friends and asked for their support.
With support from family and friends, ten children were able to begin school. What began with a desire to help a few children became the foundation of Love and Gratitude.

Josmanie Vincent's connection to this work began before Love and Gratitude officially existed.
During family vacations in Haiti, Josmanie regularly looked for ways to engage children in the community through English lessons, talent shows, Vacation Bible School, and concerts.
In 2010, while traveling in Haiti with her sister Ruth Weche, she met two mothers working under difficult conditions so they could earn enough money to send their children to school.
Their determination deeply affected her. After returning to Boston, Josmanie shared their stories and photographs with family and friends and asked for support. By September 2010, that support enabled ten children to begin school.
That experience became the foundation of Love and Gratitude, which continues today with a mission centered on education, opportunity, families, and community.
Love and Gratitude continues to build on the original vision that began in 2010.
Our goals focus on expanding educational access, supporting students and schools, strengthening partnerships, and creating opportunities that can last.
